1 John 4:7-16 TLV (Added bold to key words)

(7) Loved ones, let us love one another, for love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. (8) The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

(9) The love of God was revealed among us by this—that God sent His one and only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. (10) This is love—not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atonement for our sins.

(11) Loved ones, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (12) No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God abides in us and His love is made perfect in us. (13) We know that we abide in Him and He in us by this—because He has given us of His Spirit.

(14) We have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son as Savior of the world. (15) If anyone acknowledges that Yeshua is Ben-Elohim, God abides in him and he abides in God.

(16) So we have come to know and trust in the love that God has for us. God is love. Now whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

While reading the book of 1 John it is made apparent that ADONAI doesn’t just “have” love but that HE IS LOVE! Grasping at this concept that ADONAI is Love it forces us Believers in Messiah to ask the question: “Since ABBA not only has love but is actually Love then why would we fear whatever it is we are facing in life?”

So we will need to take a journey and I hope you will come with us as we travel through this road called Love (Chesed-Agape), biblical Love and begin to see that you are not alone, HE never leaves us nor forsakes us because HE is Love.

So let’s begin the journey now:

1 John 1:1-10 TLV

Verse 1 – “What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life—”

Word of Life: Who or what is the Word of Life? What was from the beginning? What was heard? What was seen by “our” eyes…Need to clarify who the “our” is in this verse? What “we” have looked at and touched with “our” hands…who is the “we” and “our” in this statement and is it based upon actual events?

Here are some cross reference verses from the Bible for 1 John 1:1:

Proverbs 8:22-31 TLV “Adonai brought me forth, the first of His way, before His works of old. (23) From eternity I was appointed from the beginning, before the world began. (24) When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water. (25) Before the mountains were shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth. (26) He had not yet made the land, the fields, or the first dust of the earth. (27) When He set the heavens in place, I was there. When He inscribed the horizon on the face of the ocean, (28) when He established the skies above, when He securely fixed the fountains of the deep, (29) when He set the boundaries for the sea, so that the waters never transgress His command, when He laid out earth’s foundations— (30) then I was the craftsman beside Him, I was His daily delight, always rejoicing before Him, (31) rejoicing in His whole world, and delighting in mankind.

Isaiah 41:4 TLV Who has performed and done it? Calling forth the generations from the beginning, I, Adonai, am the first and the last, I am He!”

Micah 5:1-2 TLV But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah—least among the clans of Judah—from you will come out to Me One to be ruler in Israel, One whose goings forth are from of old, from days of eternity. (2) Therefore He will give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth. Then the remnant of His brothers will return to Bnei-Yisrael.

Luke 1:1-2 TLV Now many have undertaken to organize an account of the events fulfilled among us, (2) just as they were handed down to us from the start by the eyewitnesses and reporters of the word.

Luke 24:38-51 TLV Then He said to them, “Why are you so shaken? And why do doubts arise in your heart? (39) Look at My hands and My feet—it is I Myself! Touch Me and see! For a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” (40) And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. (41) But while they were still in disbelief due to joy and wonder, He said to them, “Do you have anything to eat here?” (42) They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, (43) and He took it and ate it in their presence. (44) Then He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you—everything written concerning Me in the Torah of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled. (45) Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, (46) and He said to them, “So it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, (47) and that repentance for the removal of sins is to be proclaimed in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. (48) You are witnesses of these things. (49) And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” (50) Then Yeshua led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. (51) And while blessing them, He departed from them and was taken up into heaven.

John 1:1-18 TLV In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was with God in the beginning. (3) All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being. (4) In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. (5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it. (6) There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. (7) He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that through him everyone might believe. (8) He was not the light, but he came to bear witness concerning the light. (9) The true light, coming into the world, gives light to every man. (10) He was in the world, and the world was made through Him; but the world did not know Him. (11) He came to His own, but His own did not receive Him. (12) But whoever did receive Him, those trusting in His name, to these He gave the right to become children of God. (13) They were born not of a bloodline, nor of human desire, nor of man’s will, but of God. (14) And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth. (15) John testifies about Him. He cried out, saying, “This is He of whom I said, ‘The One who comes after me is above me, because He existed before me.’” (16) Out of His fullness, we have all received grace on top of grace. (17) Torah was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Yeshua the Messiah. (18) No one has ever seen God; but the one and only God, in the Father’s embrace, has made Him known.

John 5:26 TLV For just as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted the Son to have life in Himself.

John 8:58 TLV Yeshua answered, “Amen, amen I tell you, before Abraham was, I am!”

John 19:35 TLV He who has seen it has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe.

John 20:27 TLV Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe!”

Acts 1:3 TLV To them He showed Himself to be alive after His suffering through many convincing proofs, appearing to them for forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

2 Peter 1:16 TLV For we did not follow cleverly concocted tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

Revelation 1:8 TLV “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says Adonai Elohim, “Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty!”

Revelation 1:11 TLV saying, “Write what you see in a scroll, and send it to Messiah’s seven communities—to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”

Revelation 1:17-18 TLV When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid! I am the First and the Last, (18) and the One who lives. I was dead, but look—I am alive forever and ever! Moreover, I hold the keys of death and Sheol.

Revelation 2:8 TLV To the angel of Messiah’s community in Smyrna write: “Thus says the First and Last, who was dead and came to life.

Revelation 19:13 TLV He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is “the Word of God.”

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life—

What was from the beginning – Yeshua/Jesus

What was heard – What Yeshua/Jesus said and taught during His Earthly ministry and also after His resurrection prior to His ascension

What was seen by “our” eyes…who is “our”? – The chosen Disciples who followed Yeshua/Jesus

What “we” have looked at and touched with “our” hands…who is the “we” and “our”? – The chosen Disciples who followed Yeshua/Jesus, the eye witnesses!

So we need to settle our thinking around this first verse prior to going any further or we will miss the whole foundation on ADONAI’s Love or how ADONAI is Love. We must be convinced that what the Emissary Yochanan (Apostle John) is writing here is in fact truth and that we have to learn (and relearn) what it is to have the Love of ADONAI within our being and how we are to express this love to one another.

WARNING: If you are not convinced with the above statements in regards to biblical Love and you have any doubts to the validity of what the author here is writing to us by the inspiration of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), then you will need to stay on this introductory lesson until this revelation permeates your entire being…because this study will challenge many of your doctrines and understandings of the bible…your whole concept of who ABBA is will revolutionize your thinking and may even devastate your perceptions all together.

I write this warning because this is exactly what this understanding did to me…it not only figuratively devastate my concepts it also devastated me mentally and physically to the point of nearly killing me.

November 2006, I was in prayer and asked ABBA to reveal Himself to me. I know of Him through the traditional church sense but I wanted to know Him from a non-western cultural way, a true biblical way. So He answered my prayer by giving me two sets of study. He led me to buy a CD set on the Blood Covenant and a CD set on the Love of G-d.

I was instructed in my spirit to listen to the covenant CD set first and continuously listen to them until the Ruach (Spirit) released me and then I would be allowed to listen to the next CD set on Love.

I listened to the teachings from this 7 CD set from December 2006 all the way to June or July 2007. Listening to them over and over to the point where I was nearly able to quote the teaching. I kept praying to see if I would get the release to move on to the next set but the impression on my spirit would not give me the release.

So I did the unthinkable…I went to the other CD set on Love. What a huge mistake that was! I could physically feel that I had grieved the Ruach of ADONAI. I actually felt my guts twisted inside me. I then repented and continued listening to the Covenant CDs and immediately I felt the release physically (no more twisted feelings in my gut).

Finally after nearly 10 months of listening to the Covenant CD set, I asked ABBA why? Shockingly He responded to me, “You are not ready to know what it is I need you to understand to move on.”

“Why not just tell me,” I asked.

He responded: “Because it will kill you. Your mind is not yet ready to receive it and if I do reveal what it is I need you to understand, it will destroy your mind and even you life.”

(Now keep in mind, at this time in my walk with ABBA I was unaware that I was in fact of Jewish descent but my next action sure proves that it is a DNA thing not just something passed on by our culture.)

So I decided to “bargain” with Him…”Well, is there a way you could reveal what it is you need me to understand up to a point where it won’t kill me and that my mind will recover from it?” – (Yep, I am a Jew!)

He responded, “Yes but this isn’t how I want to reveal this understanding to you.”

To keep the long story short He eventually revealed the understanding to me and for nearly 2 or 3 weeks I lost the ability to speak. The only way I was able to speak during this time was when I would stop thinking on what it was that ABBA gave me.

Being a Help Desk technician in a combat zone didn’t make this easy at all. There were many times during my working shift my partner would have to speak on my behalf (Thank you Pete).

So for the first time since 2007, I am finally able to begin writing and sharing what it is that I have learned from that experience 10 years ago.
